The Center for Market Research and Consumer Protection organized the tagged lecture “Extraordinary Manifestations of Iraqi Society”, which was held on Wednesday, 17 January 2024 in the conference room of the Center for Market Research and Consumer Protection.
\nSummary of the lecture<\/h3>\n

After 2003, Iraq witnessed many extraneous phenomena on society, most notably drug abuse, harassment, clan-based harassment, cyber extortion, suicide and the extent to which they affect the values and behaviours of various members of society in light of the existence of influential external and internal conditions, whether politically, economically or socially, which led to a change in the social values of Iraqi society and developments in modern times, especially as globalization grows and associated with massive developments in the field of information.<\/h3>\n

Objective of the lecture<\/h3>\n

It lies in highlighting the extraneous social manifestations of Iraqi society and their impact on social and family relations, as well as their impact on the values and behaviours of various members of society in the light of the existence of external and internal conditions that affect both politically, economically and socially, resulting in a change in the social values of Iraqi society, and trying to find solutions to curb the spread of these social phenomena.<\/h3>\n

The researcher presented the most important recommendations, including:<\/h3>\n

Iraq has suffered from these various manifestations, which have penetrated Iraq’s social landscape because of the poor security, economic and social conditions, as well as the proliferation of information technology, which has led to its misuse of extraneous manifestations such as blackmail, cyberbullying and others.<\/h3>\n

The establishment of laws and legislation appropriate to the extent of the risk of the spread of these phenomena, especially since society suffers from the lack of proper application of the law to serve Iraqi society, such as the narcotics law or the law to prevent harassment.<\/h3>\n

Develop a comprehensive plan to sensitize society to reduce these phenomena, such as raising family awareness of the importance of attention to children through the establishment of socialization courses. Schools and universities are responsible for monitoring and sensitizing students about these phenomena and finding a solution to them. A comprehensive plan consists of a series of plans aimed at reducing these negative phenomena in society, starting from the family to the competent institutions.<\/h3>\n

The existence of special centres and institutions to raise awareness and to resolve these extraneous negative phenomena that are contrary to Iraq’s social system, such as rehabilitation centres for psychiatric patients and rehabilitation centres for drug users and traffickers.<\/h3>\n

The existence of civil society organizations that raise society’s awareness and contribute to the development of solutions to these extraneous manifestations that have penetrated Iraqi society.<\/h3>\n
