The Center for Market Research and Consumer Protection is the only official research institution in Iraq to study market and consumer issues. The Center was established one year (1997) Based on the System of Scientific Research Centres in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research No. 1 of the Year (1995), as one of the formations of the University of Baghdad with moral personality and financial and administrative independence and classified as research centres with overlapping disciplines.

This is reflected in the functions of the University’s staff, which combines administrative, financial and economic disciplines, as well as disciplines with applied sciences such as agriculture, chemistry and vitality.
The Centre has a Board of Directors, chaired by the Director of the Centre, whose membership includes heads of scientific departments as well as consultant professors in various disciplines from various State institutions who are used to formulate the Centre’s general policy.
