The Department’s activity is as follows: –

  1. Prepare the department’s annual research plans and follow up on their implementation and dissemination.

  2. Accomplish research and scientific studies in the field of consumer protection by focusing on food safety and public health as well as research on the environmental aspect.

  3. Conduct laboratory inspection and analysis of goods and materials available in local markets and ensure that they conform to the requirements of the approved standards.

  4. Conducting training courses for research laboratories.

  5. Provide scientific advice to different entities.

  6. Providing laboratory services to postgraduate students in accordance with the cooperation mechanism in place at Iraqi universities.

  7. Participation in local and international conferences, seminars and workshops.

  8. Participation in the membership of the special functional commissions with the Central Measurement and Quality Control Organ.

  9. Contribute to the necessary adjustments to Iraq’s draft standards.
