The Center for Market Research and Consumer Protection of Baghdad University held the scientific seminar (traffic fines under the new regulations), sponsored by the Director of the Center for Market Research and Consumer Protection Associate Professor Dr. Mahmoud Abdullah Jassim on Wednesday 7/6/2023 at Baghdad University.

The objective of the seminar was to raise awareness of Iraqi citizens in the field of traffic safety and the laws and regulations in force in this area, to develop infrastructure in the field of road and bridge completion and to provide suitable parking spaces as well as attention to the urban and urban planning of the city of Baghdad.

The symposium was attended by representatives of the Baghdad/Russafa Traffic Directorate, the Roads and Bridges Service of the Ministry of Reconstruction, Housing and Public Municipalities, the Baghdad Secretariat’s Enterprise Service, two teachers, researchers and students from the University of Baghdad.

The Director of the Center delivered his speech welcoming the attendees and initiating his talk on the role of the Center in addressing various societal issues related to the consumer and in the service of the community s income “, complementing the beginning of this symposium on the subject that affects the consumer by traffic awareness and fines and its impact on the income of the citizen, In conclusion, he noted the importance of the scientific papers submitted in order to reach proposals and treatments that serve as recommendations to the relevant authorities.

Then Dr. Adel Turki Musa and the rapporteur of the session Dr. Sadad Mohamed Jassim The symposium included the discussion of five lectures, the causes of which were traffic accidents and their treatment by Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Juma Hussein, Director of the Division of Relations and Information of the Baghdad Traffic Directorate, Senior Chief Engineer Saad Jassim Mohammed of the Department of Roads and Bridges, Ministry of Age, Housing and Public Municipalities gave a lecture on the operation of weight stations and fines and the Senior Chief Engineer Iman Darab Suhail of the Project Department of Amana Baghdad participated in a lecture on traffic lights and road furnishing, Associate Professor Dr. Mahmoud Ismail Mohammed of the Higher Institute of Accounting and Financial Studies and Dr. Khaled Jamal Fadil also gave a lecture on the planning dimensions of traffic accident damage Research Center for Market Research and Consumer Protection, Associate Professor Dr. Avnan Mohammed Shaaban presented a fam survey with a team from the Center on the implications of traffic fines for vehicle owners.

The symposium also discussed the practice of imposing traffic fines, explaining the Traffic and Traffic Law, and raising awareness and guidance on the obligation to traffic safety.

At the conclusion of the symposium, researchers recommended the creation of modern methods for the purpose of absorbing momentum establishing programmes for the purpose of traffic awareness education, the need for adequate and affordable parking spaces, planning for the establishment of fundamentalist parking lots and not permitting their establishment if they lack safety procedures and the obligation for drivers to park only in parking spaces and activate the theme of intelligent traffic central control that is by controlling the streets in all respects, And put speed radars to reduce the speed of vehicles on external roads especially fines “, to develop a full strategy for fines, including traffic awareness, fines system and vehicle information, The proposal to organize courses for every citizen applying for a leave of up to two weeks to sensitize them to traffic regulations, activating media houses by establishing a radio channel to sensitize drivers.

At the end of the symposium, Mr. Director thanked the attendees and lecturers and distributed the participants’ discretionary certificates in recognition of their efforts to make the symposium a success.
